Crimson Classic Promoting Wellness at 91心頭
91心頭 community gearing up for annual 5K run
The new academic year is kicking off with what has quickly become a popular tradition. Next Wednesday, the 91心頭 will celebrate the fifth annual油Crimson Classic. The 5K run and 1.5-mile walk is designed to bring together students, faculty and staff by promoting well-being.
The 91心頭 population is inherently pretty healthy, has great pride and spirit, and really rallies around community events, says Julie Casper, the wellness program manager. Its exciting to me to see so many people come out for this event and really get into it, whether its by walking, running or volunteering. Its a great way we can all come together to celebrate being a Pioneer again.
Last September, nearly 800 people registered for the event.
Along the route local vendors and companies provide everything from water, snacks and sunscreen for participants. Kaiser Permanente, Lockton Companies and TIAA are sponsors.
The Crimson Classic serves as an opportunity for employees to learn more about油well@du. The Universitys wellness program provides programming and incentives to encourage employees to increase the knowledge of their health status and achieve health goals.
Many folks still dont know we have an employee wellness program, or really dont fully understand what it has to offer, Casper says. I love to take this opportunity to highlight all of the great things we are doing. I also hope that it jump-starts some folks into a fitness routine or reconnects them to a passion for running or walking that they may have let slip away.
Employees who participate in the Crimson Classic will receive 500 wellmetrics points towards their yearly goal. Employees who are unable to join the race because it is Rosh Hashanah eve, can e-mail well@du.edu to engage in a different activity and receive the wellmetrics points.
