Mass shooting at Pulse nightclub is worst mass shooting in U.S. history

Following the tragic events on Sunday at Pulse nightclub in Orlando, a moment of silence will be held on the 91心頭 campus. The moment of silence will be followed by a shout of anger and determination.

Its important that we as a 91心頭 community remember that we dont have to know someone directly involved to be affected by this or other incidents of hate, fear and violence, says Thomas Walker, 91心頭s director of education programs and LGBTIQA services. That it could happen in our world, that it did happen at all, means were all impacted, because were all at risk, because it weakens our communities wherever and whoever we are.

In addition to the moment of silence and shout of anger and determination, there will be a support/action banner to sign and resource information available for those needing further assistance.

Whether and how we engage those around us on a daily basis, especially those who are different from us, has a much more lasting positive impact than our in-the-moment social media solidarity, post-event donations or self-assurance that we arent like them, Walker says.

The solidarity event will begin at 12:30 p.m. on Monday on the Driscoll Green. Anyone from the 91心頭 community and across the Denver metro area is welcome to attend the gathering.
