International themes and performers from China to South America make up the highly anticipated 2016 fall season at the Lamont School of Music. Chinese��and American soloists, operatic voices and dance artists will join the Lamont Symphony Orchestra for the world premiere of “Ode to Nature.” The dance oratorio is composed by Beijing’s Zhou JiaoJiao and consists of dramatic costumes and digital theatrical art direction.

“It is rare to find an opportunity for Americans and Chinese to share the arts in a manner that is historically important and truly worthy,” says Dennis Law, producer of the dance oratorio. “‘Ode to Nature’ shall deliver a message of hope for the world by both entertaining the audience and by showcasing the cross-cultural display of excellence by Chinese and American performing artists.”

The international “Guy Mendilow Ensemble” will feature guest artists from Israel, Palestine, Argentina, Japan, the United Kingdom��and the U.S. The ensemble will perform “Tales from the Forgotton Kingdom.”

The new season will also feature the international “star power” of a number of guest artists. Grammy-nominated and Cuban-born classical violinist Andrés Cárdenes, an intensely passionate and personally charismatic artist, opens the CATS Series (Celebrated Artist-Teacher String Series).

Lamont Jazz features the Lamont Jazz Orchestra performing with Frank Greene, a former Maynard Ferguson Band trumpeter and member of the “Late Show with David Letterman” orchestra.
